Obituary for Myron James Beukema

MYRON JAMES BEUKEMA was born on August 5, 1951 to John Richard and Harriet Cynthia (Koster) Beukema in Pipestone County, Minnesota. He grew up on the family farm and attended Edgerton Public School, graduating from Edgerton High School in 1969. On January 18, 1971 he was drafted into the United States Army and served in Vietnam, earning the Bronze Star, a Purple Heart, and also a Marksman’s medal. He was honorably discharged on January 19, 1973. On August 26, 1978 he was united in marriage to Jackie Lynn Wiese at St. Martin Catholic Church in Woodstock, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they lived in Hardwick, Minnesota and various other places in the area. In 1986, they moved to the farm in Battle Plain Township of Rock County. After Jackie’s death on October 30, 2010 Myron continued to live at their home and has resided there ever since. He entered into the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. On Wednesday, July 17, 2019, he died peacefully at the age of 67 years, 11 months, and 12 days.

Myron enjoyed traveling, driving around (seeing where his car would take him), attending classic rock band concerts, and being outdoors. In his younger years he liked riding motorcycle and checking out classic cars. He even took a trip to Cuba recently to see some old cars. Myron enjoyed the company of his friends and loved playing many hours of pool together with them. Most of all he loved his grandchildren, they were his passion and they brought him so much joy!

Myron is lovingly remembered by his two children, Scott (Ryann) Beukema of Pipestone, Minnesota, Amanda (Andrew) Eisenschenk of Watford City, North Dakota; five grandchildren, Ethan, Elyse, and Emmet Beukema, and Jade and Gabriel Eisenschenk; and two siblings, Bruce (Lois) Beukema of Hayfield, Minnesota, and Kathy (Verlyn) De Kam of Luverne, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie; his parents; and one sister, Elaine Beukema.
