Obituary for Patricia Andrews
PATRICIA JOAN ANDREWS was born to Gerard Harris and Joan Harriet (Raines) Andrews on April 10, 1948 in Worthington, Minnesota. She was baptized as an infant at St. Mary Catholic Church in Worthington. As a young girl, she lived with her family in Hadley, Minnesota, Currie, Minnesota and then Slayton, Minnesota. She was confirmed at St. Ann Catholic Church in Slayton. She attended school in Slayton, graduating from Slayton High School in 1966. After her graduation, she attended Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall, Minnesota. In 1971, she was a member of the first graduating class from SMSU. Upon completion of her education, she moved to Pipestone, Minnesota and she began teaching at Pipestone/Jasper Area School where she taught the first grade and reading. In 2005, she retired after 34 years of teaching. On Tuesday, March 14, 2017, she entered the Pipestone County Hospice House where she died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at the age of 68 years, 11 months and nine days.
Pat was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church in Pipestone where she belonged to the PCCW. She enjoyed baking, sewing and reading. She also enjoyed coffee with family and friends. She was kind, selfless, humble and an extraordinary woman. She loved children and spending time with them. Everyone she knew was blessed to have her in their lives, especially her grandchildren, who she spent countless hours loving and caring for. She was a person who did more for others than she did for herself. Her sole wish in life was that she taught her children and students well.
She is lovingly remembered by her foster daughter, Tanya Brady of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and her son-in-law, Stephen Brady of Flandreau, South Dakota; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Todd) Krantz of Flandreau, Samantha (Daniel) Alleckson of Pipestone, and Abby (Michael Visker) Brady of Lake Madison, Minnesota; nine great-grandchildren, O’Shae, Alexis, Dyonyca, Nevaeh, Xavier, Elizabeth, Michael, Mason, and Aubrey; and one great-great-grandchild, Emaleigha; six siblings, Tim (Judy) Andrews of Seattle, Washington, Jerry (Mary) Andrews of Duluth, Minnesota, Paul (Louann) Andrews of Pipestone, Margaret Andrews of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Jane (Chuck) Dooley of St. Cloud, Minnesota and Tony Andrews of Duluth. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerard “Doc” and Joan Andrews; and one grandchild, Andrew Brady.
Children were the joy of her life! Blessed be the memory of Pat Andrews!
