Patricia Johnson

April 27, 1939 — August 13, 2012

PATRICIA ANN JOHNSON was born to Gordon and Ione (Hinz) Rae on April 27, 1939 in Pipestone, Minnesota. She lived with her parents in Jasper, Minnesota for several years before moving to Pipestone where she was raised and received her education. While she was in high school, she worked part-time at the Dari King. After her graduation from Pipestone High School in 1957, she became employed at First National Bank. On January 1, 1959, she was united in marriage to Keith Johnson at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Pipestone. Following their marriage, they moved to New Brighton, Minnesota where she worked for Honeywell for four years. In 1963, they returned to Pipestone and took over the operation of the Dari King. In 1998, they sold this business which had been in the Rae family for 47 years. After their retirement, they enjoyed spending time at their daughters’ lake lots in Lake Benton, Minnesota. They also enjoyed traveling. In September, 2011, Pat was diagnosed with cancer. On Monday, August 13, 2012, she died at her home under hospice care surrounded by her family at the age of 73 years, three weeks and 16 days.

Pat was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Pipestone where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was also active in the Guild, church choir and numerous church activities. In her younger years, she was active as a Brownie leader and 4-H volunteer. She welcomed all her daughter’s friends into their home while they were growing up. The friends loved to hang out with Pat and thought of her as their Kool-Aid mom. Pat enjoyed sewing and doing crafts. She was an avid Twins and Vikings fan. She loved watching the Olympics this year. She especially loved being with her grandchildren and enjoyed their many activities. She was a profound influence on her children and grandchildren.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Keith Johnson of Pipestone, Minnesota; two daughters, Lana Rae and her husband Glen J. Eeten of Pipestone, Minnesota, and Wendi Jo and her husband Daniel C. Marnach of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two grandchildren, Tracie Rae Eeten and Joel Frederick Eeten; and her sister, Peg (Margaret) and her husband Richard Roesler of Mora, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents.
