Patricia Mann

May 8, 1952 — February 4, 2015

PATRICIA ELAINE MANN was born on May 8, 1952 to Merle and Elaine (Kindt) Hamann at the hospital in Pipestone, Minnesota. She was raised on the farm seven miles east of Jasper, Minnesota where she lived until the age of 24. She was baptized at the old Presbyterian Church and confirmed her faith at the First Presbyterian Church in Luverne, Minnesota on May 7, 1967. Pat attended school in town and graduated from Jasper High School in 1970. She then attended Pipestone Vocational School. Following her education, she took a secretarial position at Luverne High School. On August 11, 1972 Pat was united in marriage to Jerold Mann at the First Presbyterian Church. The couple lived for a short time in an apartment in Luverne and then moved to a farm northwest of town. Their marriage was blessed with three sons, Chad, Cory and Derek. Pat was a stay at home mother for her boys. As the boys got older, she returned to the work force. In 1985, she went to work part-time at the Hobby Hutch before taking a job as secretary for the Rock County Farm Bureau in 1986. Pat and Jerold moved into town for a year before moving to an acreage southwest of Luverne in 1990. Pat began her employment as a secretary at Rock County Family Services in 1994. In 2000, she and Jerold moved to the Mann Family Century Farm south of Luverne. In the summer of 2012, she also went to work as a Dietary Aid at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne. In June of 2013, Pat retired due to her diagnosis of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).

Following a sixteen month journey, Pat died peacefully on Wednesday, February 4, 2015, surrounded by her family at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage at the age of 62 years, eight months and 27 days.

Pat was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Luverne where she belonged to circle, taught Sunday school and was a Sunday school coordinator, rang in bell choir, served as a deacon and was the church newsletter editor for more than 29 years. She enjoyed flower gardening, reading, completing Sudoku puzzles, taking bus trips and bowling. She loved spending time with family and especially enjoyed time with her seven grandkids.

Pat is lovingly remembered by her husband, Jerold; three sons, Chad (Jen) Mann of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Cory (Bridget) Mann of Luverne, and Derek (Skyler) Mann of Luverne; mother, Elaine Hamann of Luverne; four siblings, Jo Gronholz of Peoria, Arizona, Lee (Kathy) Hamann of Luverne, Dean (Jean) Hamann of Adrian, Minnesota, and Duane (Linda) Hamann of Brandon, South Dakota; and other family and numerous friends.
