Robert E. Erickson

ROBERT EUGENE ERICKSON, the son of Irvin and Dora (Arp) Erickson was born on March 12, 1931 on a farm near Hardwick, Minnesota. He was baptized on May 31, 1931, and was confirmed on September 30, 1945 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Luverne, Minnesota. He attended elementary and high school in Beaver Creek, Minnesota. After high school graduation, he helped on the family farm near Beaver Creek. On September 22, 1950, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Larson at Beaver Valley Lutheran Church in Valley Springs, South Dakota. Following marriage, they lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In 1951, they moved to Luverne, Minnesota and he worked on the family farm. In 1953, they moved to a farm near Hardwick and later to a farm near Jasper, in Rock County, Minnesota. They lived and farmed there until 1965 when they moved to Pipestone. While in Pipestone, Bob sold insurance until his retirement at the age of 75. In April, 2009, he became a resident at Ashton Care Center in Pipestone and on September 9, 2010 moved to the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone. He died there on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at the age of 80 years, one month and 16 days.

Bob was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pipestone where he served as an elder, chairman of the congregation and Sunday school teacher. He also served on the board of directors for Rose Dell Mutual Insurance. He was a member of the Pipestone Golden K Kiwanis Club where he served as an officer.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Marjorie Erickson of Pipestone, Minnesota; four children, Joel Erickson and his wife Vicki of Becker, Minnesota, Sharon Spielman and her husband Roy of Westbrook, Minnesota, LuAnn Remme and her husband Bruce of Rochester, Minnesota, and Lisa Mills and her husband Randy of Rochester, Minnesota; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Dennis Erickson and his wife Ann of Hills, Minnesota; one sister, JoAnn Beggs and her husband Lloyd of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents.
