Rodney Mccormick Jr.

Rodney John McCormick, Jr., was born on November 16, 1970 to Rodney and Peggy (Smith) McCormick in Fairmont, Minnesota. He was raised and went to kindergarten in Fairmont before moving to Ellsworth, Minnesota. When he was in the 4th grade, Rod and his family moved near Kenneth, Minnesota where he went to the Edgerton Public School in Edgerton, Minnesota. In 1988, he started his senior year at Pipestone Area High School and graduated with the class of 1989. After high school, Rod joined the Army National Guard.

Rod was united in marriage to Michelle Sterrett on August 23, 2003 at Peace United Methodist Church in Pipestone. Following their marriage, they made their home in Pipestone. Rod worked a few jobs including: Tim Otto Construction and Dekam Farm Drainage before starting his own business, McCormick Floor Covering. Rod passed away at his home on Sunday, April 20, 2014. He had lived to reach the age of 43 years, 5 months and 4 days.

Rod enjoyed hunting and fishing. Just last week he returned from a fishing trip to the Great Lakes. He also enjoyed playing pool, hanging out with his friends and, most importantly, spending time with his wife and children, especially watching them play sports.

Rod is lovingly remembered by his wife, Michelle McCormick of Pipestone, Minnesota; his children, Dylan and Morgan, both of Pipestone, his parents, Peggy and James Monk of Pipestone; his sister Melissa (Timothy) Myers of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; his parents-in-law, Dick and Diane Sterrett of Pipestone; and many other relatives and friends. Rod is preceded in death by his father, Rodney McCormick, Sr.
