RUTH HENRIETTA WIESE. . .
was born to Edgar and Iona (Wehrman) Tower on March 17, 1924, in Jasper, Minnesota where she was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. She received her education in Jasper, graduating from Jasper High School in 1941. In 1942, she began working for the Statistical Control Unit of the Air Transport Command. She worked for this service in Washington, D.C., Cincinnati, Ohio, and Memphis, Tennessee until the end of World War II. After returning to Minnesota, she attended Cosmetology School in Minneapolis. Upon completion of her education, she worked for beauty shops in Minneapolis, Redwood Falls, Minnesota, and Pipestone, Minnesota. On October 29, 1948, she was united in marriage to Harold Wiese at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jasper. Following their marriage, they lived on a farm near Verdi, Minnesota for five years. In 1957, they moved to Pipestone. Then, in 1967, Ruth began working as the Deputy County Treasurer in Pipestone County. When the County Treasurer retired in 1979, she filed for that office and served two terms in that capacity. After her retirement in 1988, she and her husband continued to live in Pipestone. In 1995, they sold their house and moved into the Parkview Apartments in Pipestone and later to Ridgeview Estates. In 2013, she moved to Glencoe, Minnesota to be closer to her daughters. In 2017, following a decline in health, she entered St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted, Minnesota. She died there peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the age of 93 years and four days.

Ruth was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pipestone where she was active in the Women’s General Assembly. She enjoyed sewing, card playing and time with family.

She is lovingly remembered by her four children, Mary and her husband Roger Krueger of Glencoe, Minnesota, Lyle and his wife Luann Wiese of Lake Benton, Minnesota, Gail and her husband Glenn Koch of Glencoe, Minnesota, and Mark and his wife Wendy Wiese of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; and eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
