Stanley A. Gyberg

STANLEY ALLEN GYBERG was born on December 5, 1943, to Knute and Mabel (Larson) Gyberg in Luverne, Minnesota and was raised on the family farm. He was baptized on February 6, 1944, at the Lutheran Church in Dell Rapids, South Dakota and confirmed on September 1, 1957, at Zion Lutheran Church in Luverne. Growing up he helped on the farm with chores and played football in school. Following his graduation in 1962, Stan entered the United States Army on June 7, 1962, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He served as an engineer equipment repairman. During his service, Stan was stationed overseas in Germany. While in Germany, he met the love of his life, Irene Dyczkowski, and on October 14, 1964, the couple was united in marriage in Kassel, Germany. Upon his honorable discharge on June 8, 1965, the couple returned to the United States. They made their home on the farm in Rock County, Minnesota where they lived, farmed and were blessed with three sons. After his career in agriculture, Stan retired and remained active with his hobbies, volunteering and traveling. In 2006, he and Irene moved to Brandon, South Dakota. On April 20, 2022, Stan entered the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, where on Wednesday, April 27, he died peacefully surrounded by his family at the age of 78 years, four months and 22 days.

Stan was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church where he had served as a past treasurer. He was currently a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne. He served on the Kanaranzi Township board, SWMN Coop Elevator board, AgriEnergy board and Husker Ag board. In addition to farming, Stan enjoyed many hobbies including motorcycles, playing softball, flying lessons, traveling and scuba diving. He also had an interest in computer innovations. Stan liked to socialize, make jokes, had a sweet tooth and enjoyed drinking his pop. He was a good listener, always helpful and willing to lend an ear and offer good advice. He was honest and well respected by many. He was a great family man and his spirit will continue to live well in the hearts of his family and community.

Stan is survived by wife, Irene; three sons, Dennis (Jackie) of Luverne, Kevin (Denise) of Poway, California, and Cory (fiancé, Meegan) of Luverne; five grandchildren, Tessa, Dylan, Jordyn, Jake and Connor; mother, Mabel Gyberg; brother, Norman (Darlene) of Magnolia, Minnesota; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Knute; and two brothers, Steven and Dennis.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimers Association or Active Generations in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
