Viola Anna Marie Hoeck

VIOLA ANNA MARIE HOECK was born to Carl and Lessette (Hemme) Dibbern on December 13, 1911 on the family farm in Mound Township, Rock County Minnesota. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith on March 5, 1912 at Zion Lutheran Church in Hardwick, Minnesota and later confirmed there on June 27, 1928. Viola attended rural county school through the eighth grade and helped work on the family farm and also went to other relative’s homes and cared for their children. Viola was united in holy matrimony to George Hoeck on December 11, 1935 at the St. John Parsonage in Luverne, Minnesota. The couple farmed in Springwater Township, Rock County for 43 years before moving to Luverne, Minnesota in 1978. George passed away in May of 1983. In January of 2008, Viola moved to the Parkview Manor in Ellsworth, Minnesota. It was there that she passed away peacefully at the age of 100 years, 7 months, 23 days.

Viola was a member of St. John Lutheran in Luverne, Minnesota and belonged to Ladies Aid and Circle. She enjoyed embroidery and playing card games. Her favorite games were pinochle and “500.” Celebrating her century birthday was a highlight for Viola last December and she shared the event with many friends and family.

Viola will be lovingly remembered by her son, Darrell and his wife, Kayleen Hoeck of Luverne, Minnesota; her daughter, Gloria Ryan of Las Vegas, Nevada; four grandchildren, Felicity, Julia, Daniel, and Russell; also her twelve great-grandchildren, Brooke, Nicole, Heather, Dimas, Christina, Dylan, Dawson, Josh, Alyssa, Anna, Kaden, and Brody. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents, Carl and Lessette Dibbern; a sister, Gladys Jessen; a brother, Harvey Dibbern; and a great-grandson, Tristan.
