Wanda J. Pendley

WANDA JANE PENDLEY was born on October 13, 1958 to Thomas and Betty Jo (Dover) Carroll in Jackson County Georgia. She was baptized at Hopewell Baptist Church in Gainesville, Georgia. She attended Johnson High School, graduating in 1976. A year later, she married Theola Ray Pendley Jr. on May 7, 1977. After their marriage, the couple moved to Chestnut Mountain, Georgia. The young couple was blessed with two children, Tina and Bryan. In the mid-80s, the family moved to Talmo, Georgia. Wanda and Ray continued to live in Georgia until 2010, when they moved to Luverne, Minnesota. The couple moved to Ellsworth, Minnesota in 2014. Wanda was brought to the Sanford Luverne Medical Center on Sunday, October 28, 2018. She died there unexpectedly at the age of 60 years and 15 days.

Wanda was a member of the Diamond Hill Baptist Church in Maysville, Georgia, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and a vacation bible school director. As an individual, Wanda was a very kind and loving person. She would welcome her nieces, nephews and her children’s friends into her home and treated them as her own. Wanda loved to spend time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. In her down time, she would spend time sewing, crocheting, collecting tea kettles and peach carnival glass. Wanda loved God and believed that after God, your family was the most important.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Ray of Ellsworth; daughter, Tina (Mike) Petronek of Luverne; daughter-in-law, Shelley Pendley of Flowery Branch, Georgia; four grandchildren, Annabell Petronek, Katlin Petronek, Carson Pendley, and Mahaley Pendley; mother, Betty Jo Carroll of Georgia; siblings, Donnie (Venita) Carroll of Georgia and Ricky Carroll of Georgia, Holly Carroll of Georgia; and many other loving friends and family members. Wanda was preceded in death by her son, Bryan Pendley; father, Thomas Carroll, and sisters, Gladys Carroll and Betty Carroll.
