Albert Haak

Albert Haak was born on April 6, 1936 to Abraham and Cornelia (Van Bemmel) Haak in Hills, Minnesota. He was baptized and made profession of faith at Hills Christian Reformed Church. Albert attended Hills Christian Schools and Hills Public Schools. He was enlisted in the United States Army on July 1, 1957 and was honorably discharged on June 30, 1959. On August 18, 1959 Albert was united in marriage to Frances Alice Haan. The couple was blessed with four children as they raised their family in Hills. Albert and Frances lived in Hills for 24 years. In 1965, Albert purchased half interest in Hills Locker Service and worked there for 30 years. In 1982, they moved to an acreage west of Hills where they enjoyed raising stock cows, gardening and mowing their lawn. Albert and Fran enjoyed traveling together including their trips to Mexico, Washington DC and seven countries in Europe. In 2008, they moved to their home in Luverne, Minnesota where Albert passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 89 years, 9 months and 24 days.

Albert was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Luverne where he served as an elder and took an active part in the senior Bible study. He also served as a deacon and elder at Hills Christian Reformed Church and was on the board for Hills Christian School. Albert enjoyed taking the grandchildren fishing and was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. He always wanted to set a good example of faithfulness to God and faithfully attended church services. Albert was a humble and hardworking man and was always an early riser.

Albert is lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Frances; children, Todd (Myrna) Haak of Hills, Richard (Debra) Haak of Zeeland, Michigan, Rebecca (Brent) Stammis of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Albert (Elda) Haak of Holland, Michigan; 13 grandchildren, Ryan Haak, Josh Haak, Kassie (Cody) Van’t Hof, Jill (Scott) Gruppen, Dana (Joshua) Collier, Brian (Becca) Haak, Maggie Stammis, Josie Stammis, JT Stammis, Charlotte Stammis, Ben Haak, Levi Haak and Abi Haak; 9 great-grandchildren, Ella, Brooklyn, Cassidy, Evinn, Jaxson, Elijah, Landon, Aubrey and Elowyn; and sibling, Henrietta (Richard) Haan of Brandon, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents, Abraham and Cornelia; brothers, Gerald Haak and Henry Haak; sisters, Marie Koedam and Alida Ver Burg.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hills Christian School or Luverne Christian Reformed Church.
