Alverna Madison

Alverna Mary (Beckmann) Madison was born April 14, 1939 to Raymond and Veronica (Penning) Beckmann on a farm near Reading, Minnesota. She moved with her family to a farm northwest of Wilmont, Minnesota where she grew up. She attended Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School in Wilmont and graduated in 1957. She worked on the farm until she married the love of her life, Leroy Madison, on October 16, 1965 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. The couple lived briefly by Adrian, Minnesota before moving to a farm southeast of Kenneth, Minnesota. In 1976 the couple moved to their current farm north of Wilmont. Leroy and Alverna were blessed with four children, 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, all of whom were deeply loved.

Alverna enjoyed baking, cooking, and gardening. She also helped care for the Holstein cows and calves on the farm. She enjoyed making lunches for the guys baling hay and doing other farm work. She could also be found taking kids to 4-H, FFA, swim lessons and athletic practices. She was known for her big smile, great hugs, kind heartedness, her love of family and for being hard working. She was a member of the St. Kilian CCW and Ladies Aid Project Group.

In August 2021, Alverna moved to Sibley Specialty Care in Sibley, Iowa, where on Sunday, February 1, 2026, she passed away surrounded by family at the age of 86 years, 9 months and 18 days.

Alverna is lovingly remembered by her four children: Dennis (Melanie) Madison of Magnolia, MN, and their children Jacob (Julia) and Lucas; Leslie Madison of Rushmore, MN, and his children Paige, Blake and Lauren; Allen (Michelle) Madison of Reading, MN, and their children Nicole (Tommy Sithad), Nathan (Claire Christie) and Zack; and Lynn (Robert) Somnis of Magnolia, MN, and their children Sierra (Addison) Jobe, Adam (Linda Zheng) and Eric; 7 great-grandchildren: Elliot Sithad, Everly Sithad, Rayden Madison, Ellowny Jobe, Korbin Jobe, Sabriel Jobe and Reigna Jobe; two siblings: Marie Onken of Fulda, MN, and Norman Beckmann of Wilmont, MN; five sisters-in-law: Dianne Beckmann of Wilmont, MN, Joyce Faragher of Worthington, MN, Rita Becker of Pueblo, Colorado, Karen Madison of Adrian, MN, and Marilyn Madison of Adrian, MN; and a brother-in-law, Morris (Brenda) Madison of Aurora, CO.
