Barbara "Bobbie" Jones

Barbara Beth “Bobbie” Jones was born in Rutland, South Dakota, to George and Dahlia Graff on March 24, 1930. She was the baby of the family and loved to roller skate and go to dances. Bobbie and her sister Jo were close in age and were lifelong best friends; in grade school, their mother often dressed them alike. Big sister Pollie was always nearby to keep an eye on them. After graduating from Chester High School in Chester, South Dakota, Bobbie moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota to work. There she met her future husband Bob on a blind date. They were married on August 19, 1950, and shared 65 years together until Bob’s passing in 2015. They went golfing on their honeymoon — Bobbie’s very first round. She soon became quite skilled—often out-putting Bob, which he sometimes did not appreciate. Bobbie and Bob lived in Jasper, Minnesota, for over 60 years, where they raised their four children: Jeff, Jo, Mary, and Scott. She served as office manager at the Jasper Clinic, where her children teased that she had earned an “unofficial doctor’s degree” through her work there. After retiring, Bobbie kept busy: traveling with Bob, golfing, reading, and feeding the squirrels who waited by her door. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great -grandchildren. In 2024, Bobbie moved to Edgewood Assisted Living in Sioux Falls. Bobbie died on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at the age of 95 years, 5 months and 13 days.

Bobbie was very active in the community; she was a member of the Jasper Historical Society and the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she participated in the Ladies Aid and Altar Guild, as well as singing in the choir. She was very proud to have served as a charter member of the Jasper Sunrise Village Board of Directors. Bobbie was smart, kind, and had a wonderful sense of humor. She will be dearly missed and remembered with love by all who knew her.

Bobbie is survived by her children, Jeff (Bronwyn) Jones of Pipestone, Minnesota, Jo Foster of Beresford, South Dakota, Mary (Richard) Jones of Sioux Falls, and Scott (Barb) Jones of Alexandria, Minnesota; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; sisters, Jo and Pollie; and brothers, Jimmy and Johnny.
