Bernard Krempges

Bernard Blaise Krempges was born on May 22, 1958 to Edward and Phillis (Arionus) Krempges in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was raised and attended school in Dell Rapids, South Dakota where he graduated from Dell Rapids Public School in 1976. After his graduation, he worked various construction jobs before starting at Bayliner Marine in Pipestone, Minnesota where he was employed for over ten years. In December of 1984, Bernard was married to Penny VanderPlaats in Pipestone. Together they had triplet boys, Keith, Kyle and Kory. On October 1, 1988, Penny preceded him in death. Following her death, he continued living in Pipestone. In 1991, Bernard met Julie DeWitte, together they moved to an acreage near Pipestone. In 2000, they welcomed their daughter, Karly. Following Karly’s birth, Bernard opened Double Ringer Vintage and Second Hand which closed after three years. He then worked at Truss Pros in Pipestone until his disability in 2021 at which time he retired. Bernard passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 67 years, 11 months and 22 days.

Bernard was baptized on June 1, 1958 in Sioux Falls and confirmed at St. Mary Catholic Church in Dell Rapids. He enjoyed trapping, hunting, fishing, gambling (slots) and attending auctions. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes, darts, pool. He loved babysitting grandkids with Julie. They would drive around and get lost in the country finding little lakes and big groves. He always looked forward to the next South Dakota style dog roast.

He is lovingly remembered by his significant other, Julie DeWitte of Pipestone, Minnesota; four children, Keith Krempges of Pipestone, Kyle Krempges of Hatfield, Minnesota, Kory Krempges (Courtney Halverson) of Hatfield, and Karly Krempges (Tyler Stevens) of Egan, South Dakota; three step-daughters, Jess (Brandon) Prine, Amanda (Keith) Lanners and Megan (Austin) DeWitte; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren with one on the way; three siblings, Jean Ann (Doug) Feuerhelm, Dan (Moe) Krempges and Craig Krempges; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Penny; his parents; three brothers, John, Denis and Kelly; two sisters, Kathy Davis and Kristie Theesfeld; foster sister, Angie Metli; nephew, Josh Krempges; great-niece, Mariana Krempges; sister-in-law, Sherry Daily; brother-in-law, Joe Theesfeld; and step-grandson, Kaiser Frederickson.

Following the service, friends and family are welcome to join at the Hiawatha Lodge in Pipestone for food and fellowship.
