Blanche Chancellor Quincey, 94, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023 at the Vermillion Sanford Care Center. Blanche was born on July 3, 1929 to George and Alfreta (Moreau) Watson in Vermillion. She attended Vermillion schools, graduating from Vermillion High School in 1948.

On July 30, 1949, Blanche married Joe Chancellor. Five children were born to this union. In her early married life, she was a member of the Bergen Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, and a Clay County Extension Club. They later divorced.

Blanche worked for the University of South Dakota Food Service for many years. She enjoyed playing Bingo and was a member of different bowling leagues. When she broke her right wrist, she got a left-handed ball and bowled left-handed. She loved bowling. She bowled into her 90’s.

On September 15, 1994, Blanche was united in marriage to Don Quincey. They lived in Trosky and Pipestone, Minnesota and finally settled in Dell Rapids, South Dakota. Blanche and Don enjoyed traveling to the South Dakota Old Time Fiddlers engagements. Don played the accordion with them. They also enjoyed camping.

Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her parents; siblings and their spouses, Wally (Luella) Watson, LaVerne (Eddie) Lake, Leona (Merle) Buhler, LaRena (Alan) Morse, and Bill Watson. She was also preceded in death by three grandchildren, Rhonda, Joseph, and Eric Zorr.

Blanche is lovingly remembered by her children, JoAnn (David) Stockland and their children, Chad, Darcey, and Dana; Barb (Tom) Zorr and their children, Tim, Amanda, and Todd; Richard (Barb) Chancellor and their children, Shannon, Kibbon, and Klinton; Jerry (Lori) Chancellor and their children, Alicia, Sara, and Miranda; and Janell (Loren) Smith and their children, Joe, Daniel, Alex, and Grace. Blanche is also survived by 27 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; Don’s two children, Kathy and Scott; Don’s sister, Sherri Sailer; and many nieces and nephews.
