Bradley Ver Steeg

Bradley Gene Ver Steeg was born on October 4, 1971 to Norlan Gene and Kathleen Kay (Kain) Ver Steeg in Oliva, Minnesota. He was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Danube, Minnesota. The family moved to the banks of the Rock River near the Blue Mounds in Luverne, Minnesota to pursue farming. Brad graduated from Luverne High School in 1990. He participated in basketball, football, and played the saxophone while in band. As a junior, he was a proud member of the undefeated Luverne Cardinal football team. The record still stands today! A highlight of band was a bus trip to the West Coast where the band marched in the Portland Rose Parade. Following graduation, he furthered his education at South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota. Brad worked in the agriculture industry for over three decades and made many connections with farmers, agronomists, seedsmen and all other levels of seed production, distribution and ag equipment. On June 8, 1996 Brad was united in marriage to Amy Dispanet at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne. The couple was blessed with two children, Sage and Tate. The family moved to an acreage west of Luverne and created countless memories together. They enjoyed brunch on the deck, building snowmen, gardening and bonfires with smores by their very own Koi pond. Sadly, over time, Brad began to withdraw from many of the people and activities he once cherished. Something shifted and eventually Brad sought solitude and that became a pattern of isolation, creating distance between friendships, family, colleagues and the country life he loved so much. He struggled to find the solid ground to stand on, and stay on, during his sobriety journey. Despite the unending support and love from his family and friends, Brad passed away on June 3rd, 2026 at 54 years, 7 months, and 30 days.

Though Bradley's body and mind may have failed him in the end, he never once gave up trying to become a better dad for his children, Sage and Tate. He will always be remembered for his years of support, love and joy that he brought to this world, despite the darkness that fell upon him in the most recent years preceding his death.

Brad was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne and served on the Grace property committee for many years. He loved riding his motorcycle and enjoyed going to Sturgis, South Dakota with his dad and friends. Wonderful memories were created while attending 90’s country music concerts, trips to the cities for Vikings games, fishing trips and winter getaways to somewhere warm. The family enjoyed getting together at Norlan and Kathy’s farm for family gatherings with bag throwing, shop gatherings and even live music concerts.

Those who will miss and remember Brad forever are his children, Sage Ver Steeg of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Tate Ver Steeg of Luverne; mother, Kathy Ver Steeg of Luverne; siblings, Nathan (Tonya) Ver Steeg of Luverne and Manda (Mark) Steensma of Luverne; Amy Dispanet of Luverne and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Norlan Ver Steeg; his grandfather, Norman Ver Steeg; his grandmother, Mitsue Kain; and two aunts, Earleen Eitreim and Dori Kain.
