Brian James, 58, made his way to the spirit world on February 13th , 2026, at his home in Worthington, MN. He was born on November 29, 1967, in Sioux Falls, SD to Wilma and Kenneth James.
Brian grew up in Sioux Falls, SD. He obtained his GED in 1985. He moved to Minnesota in his twenties. He lived in several places in Minnesota until he settled in Worthington, MN with his cat TrustAye. Brian loved to joke around, make people laugh, and listen to old country music. He liked to sit outside on his favorite chair and visit his neighbors, watching Leave It to Beaver and cheering on the Steelers; he liked talking to and visiting with his family in person and over the phone. In the last few months, he discovered selfies and sent them to everyone, letting them know about his day.
Brian was a loving father, grandfather, and friend who left this world far too soon. Though our hearts are broken we find comfort in the countless memories he gave us and the love he shared freely with everyone around him. He was the kind of man who made people feel safe, welcomed, and valued. Whether through his steady advice, his sense of humor, or the quiet ways he showed up when someone needed him the most. He had a way of making life better simply by being in it. His strength, kindness, and generosity shaped the lives of his family in ways that will continue for generations. Above all else, he was an amazing grandpa. His grand children were his pride and joy, and he loved them with his whole heart. From shared laughs and stories to the simple moments that meant everything, he created a bond that nothing, not even death can break. The love he gave them will forever live on in who they become. Brian will be deeply missed by his daughters, twin brother, sisters, grandkids, and many family members and friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Jessica Williams, Brianna Malwitz (Kyle), Brittney Malwitz (Will); His twin brother John James; Sisters, Teresa James, Marcia (Ted) Rederth, and Susan (Jeff) Gerry; Granddaughters, Jasmine Williams, Jaylynn Shamatt, Aubrie Timmer, and Juliana Williams; Grandsons, Kaidyn King and Chester Kunard. Brian was preceded in death by his Mother, Wilma James; Father, Kenneth James; Sisters, Anna Marie Williams-Cane and Renae Rose Williams Bird; Brother, Michael Dale James; Grandparents, Eliza and Roy Vassar; Nephews, Wesley Gunhammer Jr., Jacob James, and Everette Cane Jr.
