Carol Ann Kuipers was born on July 7, 1939 in Kansas City, MO. Her parents were Alfred and Hilda (Dowler) Gremel. On August 13, 1939, she was baptized in Fort Wayne, IN and confirmed there in May, 1953. She was raised and attended school in Fort Wayne. After her graduation from Concordia Lutheran High School, she attended Walther Memorial College and graduated as a registered nurse. On September 1, 1962, she was married to Gerrit Kuipers at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne. Following their marriage, they resided in Oak Park, IL and she began her nursing career at Walther Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. In 1964, they moved back to Fort Wayne and she worked at the Lutheran Hospital for 14 years. During this time, they moved to Roanoke, IN. In December, 1979, they moved to Jasper, MN and while living there she worked at Palisades Manor Nursing Home in Garretson, SD and Jasper Public School. She became employed at IBP in Luverne, MN in 1988 and one year later they moved there. Then, in 1999, Carol began working at the Tuff Memorial Nursing Home in Hills, MN until her retirement in 2004. They then moved to Beaver Creek, MN until moving into Bethany Home in Brandon, SD in 2022. She passed away there on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at the age of 83.

Carol was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jasper where she was active in Ladies Aid, Couples Club and Vacation Bible School. She was in charge of the cradle roll and was a Sunday School Superintendent. She was also a member of the Holly Hoppers Square Dance Club. She enjoyed sewing, crafts and traveling which included multiple trips and cruises to places such as Alaska, Panama Canal, the Holy Land and Europe. For 29 years, she and Gerrit spent their winters in Apache Junction, AZ. Following the unsealing of adoption records in 2017, Carol learned she had eight half siblings who she very much enjoyed meeting.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Gerrit Kuipers of Brandon; children, Ron and Lori Kuipers of Valley Springs, SD, Diane and Curt Johnson of Jasper, and Delora "Lori" and Michael Grenko of Wildwood, MO; grandchildren, Justin (Jessica) Kuipers, Jessica (Sam) Wipf, Ashley (Michael) Dorenkamper, Clayton (Amy) Johnson, Carlton (Taylor) Johnson, Donavon (Brianna) Johnson, Kaylee Grenko, Hannah Grenko and Jayden Grenko; and 15 great-grandchildren.
