Carol R. Taubert

March 27, 1937 — October 28, 2022

CAROL RAE TAUBERT was born March 27, 1937 in San Diego, California to Clara (Hovland) and Roy Anderson. She grew up in San Diego, the oldest child of the Anderson family. Her father was a naval career man. They lived for a short time in North Fork, Virginia, during her father’s service but most of their time was in San Diego. The family attended Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in San Diego, where Carol was baptized on May 13, 1937 and confirmed her faith on May 25, 1952. The family moved to Hills, Minnesota in 1950 to be near grandparents following her father’s honorable discharge. It was here that Carol met her future husband, Harvey Taubert, at Hills Friendship Days. They were set up on a blind date by Harvey’s brother and Carol’s girlfriend. The family returned to San Diego a short time later. Carol and Harvey continued dating. As luck would have it, Harvey was stationed with the navy in San Diego during the Korean War. The couple was united in marriage on June 12, 1955 at her childhood church of Our Savior’s Lutheran. The newlyweds returned to Minnesota where they built a house on the Taubert family farm in Beaver Creek in 1965. They moved to Ramona, California in 1974 to be near Carol’s parents for the next ten years. She worked at Lawrence Welk’s restaurant, McDonald’s and took on sewing and crafting jobs. They returned to the Midwest around 1985 where they found a home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for a few years before returning to Beaver Creek. She enjoyed her 30 years of work in the retail industry, starting first at Dayton’s and then Younkers, where she retired in 2017. Her beloved husband of 66 years, Harvey, preceded her in death on November 3, 2021. Carol moved to the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, Minnesota in July, 2022 where on Friday, October 28, 2022 she died peacefully at the age of 85 years, 7 months and 1 day.

Carol was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Beaver Creek, Minnesota where she served on circle and attended many session meetings over the years. She was known for preparing Easter morning brunch for her congregational family. She served as a 4-H leader when her children were in the program. Carol was creative and a talented seamstress. She sewed many clothes for her family and taught her children to sew. She crocheted, made dolls, cabbage patch kids and many other crafts. Carol and Harvey loved partnership in life and on the dance floor. They spent many nights square dancing in the 60’s and 70’s. They would get together with friends and neighbors and dance the night away. Carol was a great cook and loved making food for her family and friends. Everyone loved when Carol was cooking! Throughout her life, she held strong to family values, her faith in Jesus, and lived with a generous heart.

Carol is survived by her children, Harveen (Bruce) Gluf of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Kristi (Rob) Taubert-Geffs of Phoenix, Arizona, Philip (Beth) Taubert of Sioux Falls, Renae (Martin) Murphy of San Diego, Ardis Ruth Taubert (Maurice Mechels) of Luverne, Minnesota, and Mark (Penni) Taubert of Beaver Creek; 16 grandchildren, Maria, Thomas, Suzanne, Vanessa, Erika, Daniel, Seth, Matthew, Disa, Shaun, Tami, Ramona, Jacob, Raya and Markie; 27 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; sister, Barbara Trzynka of Morning View, Kentucky; and other family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey; her parents; and infant granddaughter, Anna Taubert.
