Caroline Martena Krapf was born on June 26, 1933 to Elmer and Genevieve (Nicloy) Pedersen in Murray County, MN. At the age of six months, Caroline survived double pneumonia. She attended country school in Murray County until second grade. The family then moved to a farm north of Pipestone, MN and she continued country school in District 62 until eighth grade. Caroline graduated from Pipestone High School in May 1951. While on a 4-H trip in Minneapolis, MN, Caroline met Paul Krapf. The couple was later united in marriage on July 1, 1951, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jasper, MN. The couple was blessed with six children and they made their home on the family farm to continue farming with Paul's parents, living in the "little house" that was built for them.
She was well known for her "farm" meals. Caroline could stretch a meal out for any additional people that may show up for dinner and you would never leave hungry! You also had enough food sent with you for the next couple days. She loved to cook and bake for family!
Caroline owned the floral and gift shop in Jasper, Krapf's Korner, with her daughter, Nancy. She loved working with flowers and also making candles. She also worked at Young & Richard's Floral, Sunshine Floral and Sullivan's in Sioux Falls, SD as a designer.
Caroline was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jasper and Memorial Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, participated in the choir, Ladies Aid and LWML. She was also a 4-H Leader for many years, on the Progress Board for Down 's syndrome, and the Eden Extension Club.
She had an amazingly positive spirit. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy.... besides Paul! She will be greatly missed by all of them!
Caroline became a resident at the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton, MN in 2024. On Sunday, September 21, 2025, Caroline died at the age of 92 years, 2 months and 26 days.
Caroline is survived by her four children, Nancy (Dean) Stoltenberg, Patricia (Walt) Unger, William (Lisa) Krapf, and Barbara Krapf; daughter-in-law, Jan Krapf; 12 grandchildren, Jeremy, Joni (Tim), Stacy, Kari (Brian), Reggie (Tasha), Zach (Michelle), Crystal (Mike), Amanda (Dustin), Adam, Brant (Carmen), Brock (Rachel), and Tyler (Tracy); 29 great-grandchildren, Ty, Trace, Tate, Trever, Noah, Genaveve, Tucker, Christopher, Easton, Mia, Ashton, Mason, Parker, Alyana, Brielle, Aaron, Cali, Paisley, Piper, Theodore, Quinn, Kye, Zeke, Allison, Jennifer, Samantha, Charlie, Caroline, and Caitlin; sister-in-law, Karen Amdahl; special "family", Pat and Jenna McGunegill, Logan, Mabry, Max, Lenox, and McClain; and numerous other family and friends.
