Charles "Chuck" William Wallerich was born on June 27, 1935 to Wilford and Hazel (Laqua) Wallerich in Lake City, Minnesota. He attended school and was raised and worked on the family farm. In July 1955, Chuck enlisted into the United States Army and honorably served his country until his discharge in July 1957. On November 9, 1957, Chuck was united in marriage to Lucille Gosse at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Wabasha from 1957 to 1969. During this time, Chuck worked for Skelgas. In 1969, they moved to Pipestone, Minnesota, where Chuck managed the Skelgas plant and expanded the site into fertilizer, anhydrous, seed and chemical divisions. He was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church in Pipestone where he served communion and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. On Monday, November 6, 2023, Chuck died peacefully at the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone at the age of 88 years, four months and ten days.
Chuck is lovingly survived by his wife of 65 years, Lucy; four children, Barb (Kevin) Paulsen of Pipestone, David (Judy) Wallerich of Alexandria, Minnesota, Dan (Kay) Wallerich of Mankato, Minnesota, and Nancee (Chad) Tower of Shawnee, Kansas; nine grandchildren, Jessica (Brad) Smidt, Kelly (Shane) Beyers, Matthew (Whitney) Paulsen, Sarah (Dan) Hornseth, Angela Wallerich, Kayla (TJ) Davis, Brayden Tower, Amanda Tower and Addison Tower; 14 great-grandchildren, Hannah, Harper and Hadlee Smidt, Ryker and Brooks Beyers, Myer and Blaire Paulsen, Layla, Hudson, and Jovie Hornseth, Jeremiah Wallerich, and Cora and Thea Davis; four siblings, Dick (Marlene) Wallerich of Lake City, James (Mary) Wallerich of Lake City, Mary Moyer of Lake City and Bernard (Nancy) Wallerich of Center Valley, Pennsylvania; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Wallerich; sister-in-law, Darlene Wallerich; and brother-in-law, Dale Moyer.
Memorials may be directed to the Parkinson's Association, Good Samaritan Society of Pipestone or St. Leo Catholic Church in Pipestone.
