Chris Nibbe "Nibbe" was born on February 10, 1975 to John and Pamela (Caven) Nibbe in Blue Earth, Minnesota. During his childhood, Chris was baptized at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Vernon Center, Minnesota and was later confirmed at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lake Benton, Minnesota. Chris attended Lake Benton High School, graduating in 1993. While growing up Chris was always on the move - whether it was playing garage ball and pond hockey or working hard outside putting up hay, working in the fields and doing daily chores. From a young age he learned the value of working hard. During high school, he worked at the Country House in Lake Benton, while also milking cows. Chris worked for Johnson Trenching beginning in 1995 and then went on to work for Pipestone County from 1998 to 2001. On March 11, 2000, Chris was united in marriage to Nycole Guida at Danebod Lutheran Church in Tyler. Chris began working for D & G in 2001. In 2007, Chris and Nycole bought A & C Excavation and worked side by side to build the business that is now his legacy. Chris struggled with health challenges related to cancer for the past six months. After a hard fought battle, he passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at his home.
Chris very much enjoyed his time outdoors whether it was time at the lake pulling kids on tubes behind the pontoon, or Sunday morning golf cart rides and bloody Mary’s. He loved to spend time with his kids going hunting or fishing. He liked playing men’s night basketball and also softball. Chris was a hard-working, dedicated family man. The challenges of life “build character” and he knew he would/could “figure it out.” He taught his kids to expect nothing, and appreciate everything. He will be remembered for his laugh and his smile, his strong faith, and a spark of charisma that will last in the hearts of those who love him.
Chris will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 26 years, Nycole Nibbe of Lake Benton, Minnesota; his children, Samuel, Braden and Sydney Nibbe, all of Lake Benton; his parents, John and Pam Nibbe of Lake Benton; siblings, Laura (Kurt) Thomsen of Tyler, Minnesota and Luke (Amy) Nibbe of Lake Benton; brothers-in-law, Trent (Katie) Guida of Andover, Minnesota and Judd (Jessica) Guida of Tyler; sister-in-law, Kari (Nathan) Roisen of St. Paul, Minnesota; in-laws, Dave (Kathy) Guida and Linda Watson; and multiple nieces and nephews who loved him greatly. Chris was preceded in death by his daughter, Payton.
