Daniel Thomas Cunningham of Elk River, Minnesota passed away on January 15th, 2026 at the age of 86. He was born on May 14th 1939 in Pipestone, Minnesota. He was a star football player at Pipestone High School and South Dakota State University, Brookings where he majored in Economics. He also attended the University of Minnesota to pursue a Master’s Degree in Accounting. He worked as an Accountant at Price Waterhouse, Hoerner Waldorf & Champion International. He loved to fish. He had cherished memories of fishing for walleye on Mille Lacs and in Lake of the Woods. He earned a brown belt in karate. He always loved a good western, even if he had seen it several times.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gertrude (Miller) Worden and Charles Leon Cunningham; siblings, David Cunningham, Ruth Everett and Mark Cunningham. He is survived by his loving wife, Sue; children, Page (David) Johnson, Todd (Judy) Cunningham, and Nora (Tom) Kerber; grandchildren, Hanna (Erik) Klatt, Samantha Johnson, Kyle (Samantha) Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Dalton Cunningham, Connor Kerber and Riley Kerber; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Jaxson, Maxwell, Liam and Griffin.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service to celebrate Dan’s life at Hartquist Funeral Chapel, Pipestone, MN on Saturday, March 7th at 11:00 AM.
