Dan Hourscht

Daniel LeRoy Hourscht was born on October 31, 1952, to Edgar and Beulah Hourscht in Tyler, Minnesota. While growing up, Dan loved being a member of the Boy Scouts. He also loved playing sports whenever he got the chance. Dan was baptized and later partook in his first communion on June 11, 1961, at the St. Martin Catholic Church in Woodstock, Minnesota. He attended the Ruthton High School, graduating in 1971. Following graduation, Dan joined the Marines and served from June of 1971 to June of 1975. During the summer of 1975, Dan worked for PPG Industries in Marshall, Minnesota. He worked at the Marshall location until October of 1989, when he transferred to the PPG Industry location in Evansville, Indiana. On June 9, 1990, Dan was united in marriage to Diana Hibma in Pipestone, Minnesota. Dan retired in May of 2011 and a few years later in July of 2018, he and Diana began traveling full time in their RV. In July of 2024, Dan and his family went on vacation to Alaska and while there Dan passed away unexpectedly in Fairbanks, Alaska on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.

Dan enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting, and camping whenever he could. Dan had a huge heart, he simply loved everybody. He was an amazing listener with a laid back personality that could put anyone at ease. Dan absolutely loved his phone calls with Steve everyday, they were always a highlight for him. 

Dan is survived by his wife, Diana Hourscht of Evansville, Indiana; and siblings, Nancy Hook of Carlsbad, California, Steve (Wanda) Hourscht of Big Lake, Minnesota, DeeAnn (Kurt) Froelich of Melissa, Texas, Barbara (Nick) Nicholson of Zimmerman, Minnesota, and Mary Gilbert of Minnetonka, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Beulah Hourscht; and his brother, James Hourscht.
