David Rogness

David Keith Rogness was born on May 24, 1948, in Luverne, Minnesota to Darwin and Joyce (Pederson) Rogness. Shortly after his birth, his family moved to St. Louis Park, Minnesota and returned to Luverne in 1960. He grew up enjoying camping with family, hunting and fishing with his dad, water skiing and swimming. David graduated from Luverne High School in 1966. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he worked in Air Freight and served a tour of duty in Vietnam for one year. While stationed at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, he met the love of his life, Louise Dell Grant. On August 27, 1970, the couple was united in marriage in San Antonio and were blessed with two daughters, Stephanie and Pamela. They lived in San Antonio for two years before moving to Luverne in 1972 where David was employed at Darwin’s Service Center (Texaco) until the early 1980’s. He then worked at the House of Oak with his dad restoring furniture. He also served two years in the Air Force National Guard of South Dakota. In 2023, David moved into the Minnesota Veteran’s Home in Luverne where he passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the age of 77 years, 6 months and 26 days.

David was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne and was also involved in the VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed photography and taking pictures of his family. David loved working on cars, especially with his dad. He also took flying lessons and could name any airplane model. He and Louise enjoyed playing bingo at the Minnesota Veteran’s Home. David was a proud dad and grandpa who deeply loved his daughters and grandsons. He loved spending time with family. He will be remembered for his quick-witted sense of humor, making up funny songs and his ability to debate anyone on any subject. David was an old soul at heart, sensitive, caring and also enjoyed speaking his mind.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Louise Rogness; two daughters Stephanie Fischer of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Pamela (Derek) Halverson of Luverne, Minnesota; grandsons, Andrew (Haleigh) Bierman of Luverne, Minnesota; Trey Bierman of Brandon, South Dakota and Jayden Bierman of Luverne, Minnesota; siblings, Steve (Robin) Rogness of Stow, Ohio, Rick (Kim) Rogness of Mesa, Arizona and Linda (Steve) DeSplinter of Jasper, Minnesota and many nieces and nephews.
