Delmer Earl Boxberger died peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at the Luverne Hospice Cottage in Luverne, Minnesota, following a battle with cancer.
Del was born in Yakima, Washington at St. Elizabeth Hospital on November 28, 1958. Del was born country. He was raised in Oklahoma and Washington. He grew up in a poor family working in the apple orchards of Yakima at the age of seven. His mom gave him his first guitar with Bobbie Wiser and he taught himself to play and sing. He mostly played rhythm guitar and bass, with a preference to playing the bass. Del played in several different bands, but his favorite genre was country. Del loved to sing and when he did, you can see it came from his heart and if you’re in that room with him you will know it and feel it. Del was also Vice President of the Montana Old Time Fiddlers District #3. He played all over Southwestern Montana. Music was Del’s life and any time or place he would sing for anyone. He will tell you that his early influences were Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash and Hank Williams. He also loved Charlie Pride and many others.
Del was very compassionate, caring and he loves to teach the guitar and singing. He learned something new every day. He will be remembered for his compassion and love of life. Del was with his partner in life Elizabeth Boyle and her grandson. He is also survived by Danney Englet, Chuck Brewer and Travis Englet whom he called his family. He has many brothers and sisters in Oklahoma and Washington; and four step-sons of Montana.
Del’s Celebration of Life will be he May 7th, 2026 at Atlas of Luverne from 5:00 - 7:00PM.
