Dennis Paul Rydell was born on July 16, 1950 to Ronald and Aileen (Stromberg) Rydell in Pipestone, Minnesota. He was raised on the family acreage north of Pipestone and graduated from Pipestone High School in 1968. During his high school years, he had a special interest in baseball and was proud that he accomplished starting pitcher for the Pipestone High School baseball team. He then attended and completed the Fashion Merchandising program at Pipestone Vocational School. He then went to work at Wilson’s Clothing for a number of years. Following this employment, Dennis held jobs for various companies. Most recently, he held a job at Ellison Meats in Pipestone until his retirement which he was known for his dedication and hard work. On Wednesday, June 10, 2020, Dennis died at the Pipestone County Medical Center at the age of 69 years, 10 months and 24 days.
Dennis enjoyed everything about the outdoors. He was a skilled and avid hunter and many times it was stated by his hunting partners “You better be quick and good if you are going to get a shot in before him.” Dennis also enjoyed fishing, gardening and trying his luck at the casino. Dennis had a gift to gab. His talking and storytelling were seemingly endless. He believed in living life to the fullest, because you never know what tomorrow may bring.
Dennis will be remembered by his two sons, Paul Rydell (fiancé, Stacey Japenga) of Spencer, Iowa, John (Jessica) Rydell of Spencer; six grandchildren; five siblings, Steve (Linda) Rydell of Baltic, South Dakota, Doreen (Doug) Hansen of Pipestone, Lee (Mary) Rydell of Flandreau, South Dakota, Gary (Lori) Rydell of Flandreau, and Rollie (Lisa) Rydell of Flandreau; special friend, Caroline Schrader of Pipestone; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Aileen Rydell; a sister, Sally Rydell; and a brother, Randy Rydell.
