Doris Vandeputte

DORIS PATRICIA VANDEPUTTE was born on February 6, 1928 to Ernest and Gladys (Hiatt) Keith in Sanish, North Dakota. She was their 5th child and grew up in Tracy, Minnesota. She attended school in Tracy, graduating from high school. She was united in marriage to Hubert Vandeputte on February 19, 1946 in Marshall, Minnesota. After their marriage she worked on the farm until the couple moved to Montevideo, Minnesota where Doris worked as a nurse’s aide at a nursing home. They also lived in Granite Falls, Minnesota before moving to Alexandria, Minnesota where Hubert was restoring a lake home when he was diagnosed with cancer. Doris was his primary caregiver, along with the help of their four daughters. Hubert died on May 22, 1982. After his death Doris moved to Marshall, and later, to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. During these years she worked as a nurse’s aide, helping facilities who were in need of caregivers for short periods of time in their own home. In 2003 Doris moved to Storybrook Senior Apartments in Pipestone to be near her daughter. She moved into Falls Landing Assisted Living when her health started to decline and resided there for a year and a half and then into the Ashton Care Center and lived there until its closing. In August of 2010 she moved into the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Tyler, Minnesota where she resided until her death on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at the age of 93 years, seven months, and 22 days. No public funeral service will be held for Doris. Doris chose to give a great gift and donated her body to the University of Minnesota’s Anatomy Bequest Program for the education of students.

Doris is lovingly remembered by her children, Merle Vandeputte of San Diego, California, Cheri (Gary) Forbord of North Mankato, Minnesota, Colleen (Dave) Krusemark of Pipestone, Minnesota, and Nadine (Mike) Schutz of Woodbury, Minnesota; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Marilyn Anderson of St. Peter, Minnesota; one son-in-law, Robert Anderson; one stillborn grandson born to the Anderson Family; her parents; and four siblings.
