Dr. William "Bill" Yseth

Dr. William "Bill" Frederick Yseth entered the world on December 6,1931 and was the oldest child of Dr. Frederick and Dorothy (Kelley) Yseth. Bill was raised in Pipestone, MN, along with his three sisters and his younger brother. After graduating from Pipestone High School in 1949, Bill attended the College of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. Following St. Thomas, Bill went on to dental school at the University of Minnesota in 1951. He graduated with honors earning the Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1955. Bill's next big accomplishment was marrying his high school sweetheart, Mary Ann Burke. They were united in marriage on June 25, 1955 at St. Leo Catholic Church in Pipestone. Shortly after the wedding, the couple moved to Rapid City, SD where Bill began his dental career and started expanding their family. Wanting to be closer to family and friends, Bill and Mary Ann returned to Minnesota in the fall of 1957. They made their home in Lake Benton, MN where Bill practiced dentistry for five years. He then went on to join his father's dental practice and moved the family to Pipestone. Bill's practice was very successful for the next 40 years. Many residents remember Dr. Bill as 'their dentist'. He retired from dentistry in 1997. In January of 2025, he became a resident at the Good Samaritan Society of Pipestone where he died on Monday, August 18, 2025 at the age of 93 years.

Bill was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church in Pipestone. He was a loving father and enjoyed attending his children's sporting events. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsmen, dog lover and squirrel whisperer. He took great pride in his lawn and flower beds. He passed along his love of the outdoors to his eight children.

Bill is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, of 70 years; eight children, Mark (Leslee) Yseth of Ham Lake, MN, Jane (Brian) Wischer of The Villages, FL, Matthew (Cathy) Yseth of Alexandria, MN, Steve (Mary Lea) Yseth of Watertown, SD, Anne (Gene Beck) Twomey of Austin, TX, Tim (Nicole) Yseth of Brookings, SD, Mary (Edwin) Lapthorn of Pipestone, and Nancy Yseth Olsen of Hendricks, MN; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sue Vondrosek of Northfield, MN and Jeanine (Jerry) Totall of Bloomington, MN; one brother, Thomas Yseth of Brookings; and special caregiver, Bridget Benz.
