Ed Dock

Ed Dock, a lifelong farmer, passed away surrounded by the love of his family and friends Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at the Pipestone County Hospice House. He was a man whose life was rooted in faith, family, hard work, and service to his community.

Ed was baptized on December 1, 1932, and confirmed on April 14, 1946, at Trinity Lutheran Church. He attended District 53 Country School and later studied at Agricultural School during 1956-1957. On May 14, 1954, he married the love of his life, Audree Hendricks, at Mt. Calvary in Brookings, South Dakota. Together they built a life centered on family, farming, and faith.

From the time he was just seven years old, Ed worked alongside his father on the family farm. Farming was not simply his occupation; it was his way of life. He spent his years raising crops, milking cows, and caring for cattle in his pasture. His dedication to the land and to agriculture continued throughout his working years until his retirement in 2003.

Even after retiring, Ed never slowed down. He gladly helped neighbors and friends with harvesting and field work whenever asked. He enjoyed gathering with fellow farmers at the Mini Mall for a cup of pop and conversation, sharing stories, catching up on local happenings and try their luck with a few scratch lottery tickets. One of his favorite annual traditions was attending the county fair, where he loved listening to polka music and watching his granddaughter exhibit her animals through 4-H.

As a child, Ed enjoyed roller skating, ice skating, and playing pool at the Ihlen pool hall. Throughout his life, he maintained a love for simple pleasures and staying active. When he could no longer farm, he found joy in tending a vegetable garden and working with his hands.

Faith was a cornerstone of Ed's life. He was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jasper, Minnesota. He served as an elder for 24 years and as head usher, rarely missing a Sunday worship service. He also taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir.

Ed was deeply involved in his community. He supported the Jasper High School FFA program helping with the corn drive for many years. He served as a 4-H leader for the Eden Jolly Juniors and was active on both the FHA Board and the American Dairy Association Board.

Those who knew Ed will remember his quick wit, his warm smile, and his ability to tease others in a loving way. He was known for his beautiful singing voice, generous hugs, and genuine kindness. He lived most of his life in the Jasper area before moving to Falls Landing in 2017, where he was blessed to find many wonderful friends who became a second family to him.

Ed is lovingly remembered by his children, Lee (Terri) Dock of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, Jerry Dock of Bloomington, Minnesota, Glen Dock of Jasper, Minnesota, and Julie (Rodney) Fastert of Rock Rapids, Iowa; Nine grandchildren, Heather (Jeff) Lenfant, Craig (Rebecca) Dock, Derek (Caitlyn) Mahcek, Nikki Mahcek, Jake Brown, Cody Dock, Alis (special friend Nick Krogman) Golombeski, Justin (Megan) Fastert, and Danielle (Jeremy) Klarenbeek; six great-grandchildren, Zach Redner, Jett Lenfant, Kathrine Dock, Aurora Fastert, Brody Fastert, Bridget Fastert, Hailey Fastert, and Jackson Klarenbeek; special nieces and nephews, Deb Kallemeyn, David (Jan) Muller, Tony Scott Muller.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Clara (Krapf) Dock; his beloved wife, Audree; his sons, Ronald Dock and Craig Dock; his grandson, Jaryd Dock, and his sister, Mary Muller.

Ed's life was a testament to hard work, devotion to family, service to others, and unwavering faith with his quote "God never takes a vacation from you, so you don't take a vacation from Him." He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on in the fields he tended, the family he cherished, the church he faithfully served, and the countless lives he touched with his kindness and humor.
