Glenn Anderson

Glenn Leonard Anderson was born on June 30, 1942, to Leonard and Mabel (Ness) Anderson in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Glenn attended grade school at Beadle Elementary School in Sioux Falls. It was during that time that he met Richard Rose and Jim Brown. They became lifelong friends and got along for all these years. Glenn graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls. Glenn was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Brown on April 24, 1961 in Sioux Falls. Glenn worked briefly at a few odd jobs before starting at Fenn’s Brothers driving semi-truck. In 1969, Glenn moved the family to Ihlen, Minnesota to work for Marigold Dairy Company driving semi. He then drove a U.S. Mail route for many years. In the early 80s, he bought a semi and went over the road trucking. For the last 10 years he hauled Boeing Aircraft parts. After his retirement he enjoyed spending more time with Barb and his grandkids. After Barb’s passing in September of 2022, Glenn remained at home and resided there until entering the care of the Pipestone County Hospice House where he passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024, nearly two years to the day that Barb passed. He had missed her dearly every day since she had passed.

Glenn had many hobbies and would be passionate about a hobby and delve deeply into it for 5-15 years and then move on to the next. He enjoyed fishing back in the day. He got into photography, taking and developing his own photos in a dark room he built into their home. He liked to buy and tinker with cars, he has owned a Model A, a 58 T-Bird, and a four-wheel drive Jeep that he would take into the creek, needing to be found and pulled out by Barb at least a couple times. Glenn was also a great woodworker. He built most of the furniture and cupboards in their home through the years and even won a woodworking competition in Sioux Falls with a model semi-truck he built. Glenn was a kind and honorable man. He told the truth no matter what and asked the same of his kids and friends.

Glenn is lovingly survived by his three sons, Glenn, Jr. of Ihlen, Gregory (Marsha) of Jordan, Minnesota, and David of Jasper, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Glenn (May) Anderson, III, Kelly Jo (Michael) DeGroot, Tina Anderson (fiancé, Brandon Mapes), and Tara Jo Anderson; eight great-grandchildren, Caileb, Dexter, Abigail, Aria, Kai, Cayden, Alejandro and Leslye; his brother, Wayne (Linda) Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska; one niece, Lori Anderson and her children, Andrew and Emilie O’Connell and Emilie’s son, Declan; special lifelong friends, Dick Rose, and Jim Brown; and Amy Brenda, who was like an adopted daughter to Glenn and Barb. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; parents, Leonard and Mabel (Ness) Anderson; and daughter-in-law, Lorel Anderson.
