"Be still, and know that I am God."

Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel.   Let us remember with thanksgiving what God had done through his servant, Janet Marie Hailey.

Janet Marie Hailey was born to Clarence and Alice (Nelson) Cox on May 14, 1940 in Estherville, Iowa.  She was an infant when her parents and she moved to West Los Angeles, California. There she grew up and attended University High School where she graduated.  On November 20th, 1960, she was united in marriage to James Bert Hailey.  They made their home in Van Nuys, California.  On March 3, 1967, Janet, Jim and their two sons, Gary, Terry and her brother Alan arrived on a family farm near Pipestone, Minnesota, which later they named “Borderland Acres.” They were followed later by parents, Clarence and Alice Cox; and grandmother, Frances Nelson. They made their life there and later had one more son, Dan.

Janet was a Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School teacher.  She loved Jesus, crafts, painting, porcelain dolls and quilting.  She was a stay-at-home mom with an influence over 4 generations of children with unconditional love.  She loved playing with the children on the farm (always barefoot) always making adventures for the children.

57 years from the day they arrived at Borderland Acres, Janet left this world on March 3, 2024, resting right where she wanted to be, on the farm.  She is now in her forever home with Jesus, in heaven. Well done thou good and faithful servant.

Janet is lovingly remembered by her three sons, Gary (Carmen) Hailey, Terry (Judy) Hailey, and Dan (Shelly) Hailey, all of Pipestone.  Janet is also lovingly remembered by her three grandchildren, Kimberly (Mike) Brockberg of Luverne, Kyle (Kayla) Hailey of Pipestone, and Logen Hailey of Pipestone; as well as her great-grandchildren, Kloe and Owen Brockberg, and Jonah and Mason Hailey; one brother, Alan Cox; and nephew and nieces, Paul, Debbie, Diane, Jesse, Amy, Erin, and Corrie.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; parents, Clarence and Alice Cox; and brother, Gary Cox.

“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”

In accordance with Janet's wishes, a private family memorial service will be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Pipestone.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hartquist Funeral Home - Pipestone Chapel.
