Jeanne Mable Lundholm was born on May 16, 1938, to Adolph and Clara (Hargens) Kerber in Miller, South Dakota, where she was raised and attended school. She graduated from Miller High School in 1956 and went on to attend cosmetology school in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. On June 7, 1959, Jeanne was united in marriage to Harold Steenstra in Miller. They were blessed with five children and made their home on a farm near Holland, Minnesota. Jeanne worked as a beautician until 1980, when she began her career as a CNA at the Good Samaritan Society in Pipestone, where she worked until her retirement in 2000. On February 17, 1990, Jeanne married Marlin Lundholm, and the couple made their home in Ruthton, Minnesota. In October 2021, she became a resident at the Good Samaritan Society, where she passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at the age of 87.
Jeanne was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Ruthton, where she was active in Ladies Aid, and she also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, bowling, and traveling. Known for her strong will and a touch of spice, Jeanne had a work ethic admired by all who knew her. She will be remembered for her quick wit, sarcastic jokes, and funny stories. Her favorite saying was, “Just take one day at a time.” Above all, Jeanne cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Marlin Lundholm of Ruthton, MN; her children, Rhonda (Dan) Eckhart of Big Lake, MN, Kenny (Julie) Steenstra of Slayton, MN, Keith (Jean) Steenstra of Holland, MN, Harlan (Cindy) Steenstra of Loretto, MN, and Rolly (Lindy De Groot) Steenstra of Holland, MN; 13 grandchildren, Jennifer, Taylor, Whitney, Riley, Shelby, Tanner, Tifany, Tara, Nathan, Logan, Marah, Nicole, and Jason; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Rhoda Rombough of Miller, SD; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clara and Adolph Kerber; her brothers, Gerald, Harlan, and Arnold Kerber; and her sisters, Joan Comstock, Eloise Lukes, Doris Kerber, and Francis Kerber; two great-grandsons, Caleb Moffitt and John Eckhart; brother-in-laws, Donald Rombough, John Comstock, Arnold Lukes; sister-in-law, Joy Kerber; nieces, Anita Kerber, Debra Kerber, Karen Teeslink; nephews, David Kerber, Larry Lukes, Jerry Lukes.
