Jerry L. Van'T Hul

April 22, 1963 — March 17, 2020

JERRY LEE VAN'T HUL was born April 22, 1963 to Albert and Gertrude (Vander Spoel) Van’t Hul at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He attended school at Hope Haven in Rock Valley, Iowa for several years and completed his education at Edgerton Public School in Edgerton, Minnesota. Jerry made profession of his faith on June 20, 1982 at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Edgerton.

Jerry enjoyed attending the Friendship Classes as well as bowling with the Special Olympics. He loved going for rides through the countryside to look at animals and machinery. Monster truck races also captured his attention. Jerry had many favorite eating places including Pizza Ranch, JJ’s, Diner 75, IHop, Perkins and Pizza Hut, and he particularly loved his Mountain Dew and cookie dough ice cream.

When Jerry moved to Luverne, he worked a number of places including Pizza Hut, Rock County Courthouse, various churches and Rock County Opportunities. He was a member of the Luverne Christian Reformed Church where he enjoyed his church family.

On Tuesday, March 17, 2020, Jerry died peacefully surrounded by his family at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Jerry’s family is very grateful for all of the people that have cared so well for him through the years whether at the Group Homes, the Friendship Classes, places of employment, those that drove him to church each Sunday and those that helped out in ways the family might not know.

Jerry is survived by his three siblings: Gary Van’t Hul and his wife, Glenda, of Rock Rapids, Iowa, and their children, Valerie Van’t Hul, Shawna (Brad) Lupkes, and Chad (Kim) Van’t Hul; Larry Van’t Hul of Pipestone, Minnesota, and his children, Alethea (Jeff) Juliar, Michelle (Matt) Lowe, and Alan (Alyson) Van’t Hul; and Terry Van’t Hul and his special friend, Mickey of Mesa, Arizona, and his daughter, Stacie Van’t Hul; brother-in-law, Merlyn (Edna) Buys of Luverne, and his children, Larissa (Kevin) Caspersen, Ava (Arlan) Vander Woude, and Renita (Jason) Jasper; and other family. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mary Buys; three great-nieces, Lydia Lupkes, Evelyn Van’t Hul and Ella Van’t Hul; and grandparents.

Memorials may be directed to the Luverne Christian Reformed Church.
