Karen Young

Karen Kay Young was born on October 7, 1960 to Orin Edward and Lila Lou (Canter) Oye in Pipestone, Minnesota. She was raised on her parent’s farm near Hardwick, Minnesota. Karen graduated from Luverne High School in 1979. Following graduation, she was united in marriage to Robert Knapper in 1979. The couple moved to Williston, North Dakota and in 1980, they were blessed with their daughter, Bobbi Jo. Karen and Bobby later divorced. Karen lived in Florida for many years before returning to Luverne in 2022. On Thursday, October 23, 2025 Karen died while at the Good Samaritan Society in Jackson, Minnesota at the age of 65 years and 16 days.

Karen is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Bobbi Jo of Trenton, North Dakota; mother, Lila Oye of Luverne; two sisters, Julie (Dean) Johnson of Boise, Idaho and Janet Oye of Boise; five grandchildren, Natasha Knapper, Jadyn (Cody) Huwe, Devon White Owl, Somer Johnson, Lilyana Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Kyler Huwe, Colsen Huwe and Alaia White Owl. She was preceded in death by her father, Orin Oye and her sister, Pam Oye.

Refreshments will be served at Hartquist Funeral Home after the graveside service.
