Kathleen "Kathy" Rupp

Kathleen Thea Rupp was born on February 9, 1952, to Harold T. and Mildred M. (Nelson) Anderson in Minot, North Dakota. She grew up in Minot as a part of a farming family. She attended McKinley Country School #2, and later attended Minot High School, graduating in 1970. She then attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1974. On July 12, 1986, she was united in marriage to Steven Rupp at Peace Lutheran Church in Ruthton, Minnesota. She began working as an occupational therapist for the Southwest West Central Service Cooperative while living in Ruthton. She spent countless hours helping students with special needs and challenges. Kathy enjoyed her job and was good at it. She made an impact on each family of the children she taught. Those kids spent their school years with Kathy all the way through graduation and she loved them. She worked for SWCSC for over 30 years. Kathy was admitted to the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  She passed away there on Monday, April 29, 2024, at the age of 72 years.

Kathy was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Ruthton. Kathy loved the community of Ruthton. She served on the City Council for many years and also volunteered with the Buffalo Ridge Civic Organization. Kathy enjoyed reading and watching gameshows on TV. She was always willing to help anyone and especially loved helping with special events. She loved her dogs and cats. Most of all, though, she loved kids and spending time with them.  

Kathy is lovingly remembered by her husband, Steven of Ruthton; son, Marcus of Ruthton; sister, Connie (Jim) Benjaminson of Walhalla, North Dakota; brother, Mike (Sue) Anderson of Minot, North Dakota; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Harold Anderson; an infant son, Luke; and  two brothers, Charles "Charlie" and Harley (her twin).
