Linda Farmer

Linda Ranae Farmer was born on September 13, 1957 to Edward and Bernice (Becker) Ortman in Mitchell, South Dakota. Linda attended Pipestone High School and graduated in 1975. After high school, she attended the North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, Minnesota for two years and the Pipestone Vo-Tech College, graduating with an accounting degree. Linda was united in marriage to Calvin Farmer on August 30, 1986, in Pipestone, Minnesota. This union was blessed with the birth of one son, James Farmer.

Linda was not afraid to work hard in her life. Throughout her years she held many jobs. She started off working in retail sales during her time in Minneapolis.  She then received a phone call from a friend inviting her to come down to Luverne, Minnesota and begin working as a bank teller.  She then took a job as the Ag Secretary for the Norwest Bank in Luverne, and later worked at Pamida & Loopy’s in Pipestone. She also was a secretary at the Pipestone Ford Motor Company and was a well-loved substitute at a local daycare. Linda had worked up until March 27, 2024 - one week before her passing. On April 3, 2024, she passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loved ones at the age of 66 years.

When Linda wasn’t working hard, she could be found outside gardening, working with her many flowers and plants. She also enjoyed camping and playing the piano. She had spent 26 years as co-chair with Cal on the SWMN Prolife organization. Linda left a lasting impact on everyone she met as she was an intercessor and prayer warrior for all. She will be remembered for her deep love for the Lord and her loving, passionate heart. She was actively involved with The Voice of the Martyrs; a group dedicated to sending bibles to Christians in hostile areas and restricted nations.

Linda is lovingly remembered by her husband, Calvin Farmer of Pipestone, Minnesota; her son, James (Shelby) Farmer of Tyler, Minnesota; siblings, Mark (Ruth) Ortman of Pound, Wisconsin, and Dale (Tonia) Ortman of Jasper, Georgia; and five grandchildren, Bair Farmer, Tucker Farmer, Boone Farmer, Duke Farmer and Axe Farmer; and many loving nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
