Linda Kay (Mogen) Roelfsema, age 76, of Pipestone, Minnesota, passed away on October 19, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family at Pipestone County Medical Center in Pipestone, Minnesota.
Linda was born September 6, 1949, at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin, Minnesota, the only child of Ardean and Beatrice (Nesbit) Mogen. She was baptized and confirmed in the same church where her father was baptized and her parents married, beginning a lifelong journey rooted in faith and family. Growing up in Austin and later Worthington, Minnesota, Linda graduated from Worthington Senior High. Even as a young student, she displayed the creativity and determination that would define her life. Her kindergarten report card stated “Linda would rather lead than follow,” a sentiment that remained true throughout her years.
Linda pursued her passion for education at Worthington State Junior College and later Mankato State College. Her calling was to work with young children, and she dedicated much of her life to nurturing them in preschool and kindergarten, believing deeply in giving every child a “head start.”
On September 7, 1969, Linda married Dennis Roelfsema at First Lutheran Church in Worthington, Minnesota beginning a marriage that lasted more than five decades. Together they raised four children and built a home filled with love, laughter, and respect for hard work. Linda loved painting figurines and collecting knick-knacks that held special meaning and memories. Her love of the arts shone through in her children, who enjoy building, creating and performing.
Linda was an avid fan of Minnesota sports teams, and could find a game on the TV, no matter the season. Family vacations often involved early morning departures to trek across the state for a game. Her greatest joy came from being Grandma. She adored her grandchildren and made a point of attending sports and performances, celebrating milestones, and spending time together.
Linda’s love, strong will, and steady presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her husband Dennis; her children, Leah (Mark) Ference, Todd (Beth) Roelfsema, Mark (Jessica) Roelfsema, and Sarah (Tom) Beck; her grandchildren, and all whose lives she touched.
