LINDA LEE (VAN HOECKE) FENTON was born on May 26, 1952 to Morris and Angela Bernadine (Wathen) Van Hoecke in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She attended school in Verdi, Minnesota and Pipestone, Minnesota, graduating from Pipestone High School in 1970. During her high school years, she worked as a waitress at Lange’s Café. On September 18, 1971, she married Randy Fenton at St. Leo Catholic Church in Pipestone. Following their marriage, they resided in Franklin, Minnesota where she held various jobs, such as control data and waitressing. They adopted Angela in March of 1976 and Richard was born in May of 1977. In 1978, they moved to an acreage north of Pipestone. She worked as a waitress at the Calumet for several years and then became employed at Fey Industries in Edgerton, Minnesota for 16 years. She then went back to school and received an associate degree in Medical Transcription. Later, she began working at Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone as the Activities Assistant until her retirement due to illness. She loved working with the residents! In June of 2016 it was discovered that she had a rare type of cancer. June of 2021 her cancer was declared in remission. In February of 2022, she became a resident at Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone where she died on September 21, 2022 at the age of 70 years, three months and 26 days.
Linda was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church in Pipestone. She loved the Vikings! She played fast pitch for a team from Morgan, Minnesota and the team went to two state tournaments. She will be remembered for her contagious laugh and the comments she made to her family.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Randy Fenton of Pipestone; her two children, Angela (Shawn) Chauncey of Manhatten, Kansas and Richard (Clorinda) Fenton of Junction City, Kansas; 15 grandchildren, Austin (Mel) Chauncey, Morgan (Joey) Doyle, Paige Chauncey, Cassidy Fenton (Nate), Kaitlyn (Amber) Eidem, Jesse Fenton, Calysta (Kyle) Leonard, Brittney Johnson and Zakery Johnson; one great-granddaughter, Brooke Doyle; her mother, Bernadine Van Hoecke of Pipestone; seven siblings, Morey (Pat) Van Hoecke of Pipestone, Cynthia (Cliff) Gelderman of Sheldon, Iowa , Carolyn (Richard) Brobjorg of Pipestone, Minnesota, Jerry (Kim) Van Hoecke of Pipestone, Jim (Tina) Van Hoecke of Moorhead, Minnesota, Marnita (Vicki) Van Hoecke of Little Falls, Minnesota and Lisa (Jim) Rogich of Elgin, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Morris Van Hoecke, Sr. and grandparents, Raymond and Elizabeth (Wallyn) Van Hoecke and Clarence “Victor” and Winona (Horrell) Wathen.
