Lloyd William Stoltenberg was born on June 13, 1932 to Herbert and Erna (Lohse) Stoltenberg at their family farm South of Holland, Minnesota. Lloyd attended country school and graduated from Pipestone High School in Pipestone, Minnesota in 1950. During his younger years he was active in 4-H and FFA. On February 3, 1953, Lloyd married the love of his life, Vera Jean Kean, at the Second Presbyterian Church in Flandreau, South Dakota. They then moved to Sheboygan, Wisconsin where Lloyd served in the US Army from June 15, 1953, until his honorable discharge on March 18, 1955. During his enlistment, Lloyd focused on repairing target planes as an Army Aircraft Mechanic. After his military service Lloyd, Jean and their infant son, Dean, returned to the family farm where he farmed until the late 1990’s. Lloyd and Jean welcomed two additional children, Vicki and Chad during this time. Lloyd and Jean enjoyed going to dances at local area dance halls and together they performed a nearly text book foxtrot. Lloyd and Jean left the family farm and moved into Pipestone in 2016 and later moved into Ridge View Estates in December of 2025. Lloyd passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the Pipestone County Hospice House at the age of 94 years, three months and 17 days.
Lloyd was a life long member of the Presbyterian church where he worked endlessly on strengthening his relationship with his Lord. He had a large presence in people’s lives, always having an ear to listen to others and words of wisdom to give. He was a kind man with a great sense of humor that always put people at ease. After retiring from farming, Lloyd worked as a machinist at Wilson Manufacturing, helping alongside Jean to clean various facilities in Pipestone, and he worked in the vineyard at the family farm. He retired from Wilson Manufacturing in 2025 at the age of 92.
Lloyd is lovingly remembered by his wife of 73 years, Jean Stoltenberg of Pipestone, Minnesota; three children, Dean (Nancy) Stoltenberg of Jasper, Minnesota, Vicki (Lyle) Korver of Orange City, Iowa, and Chad (Sharon Stone) Stoltenberg of Little Canada, Minnesota; grandchildren, Travis (Jen) Korver, Stacy Stoltenberg, Jadi (Scott) Goins and Mikkell (Nick) Baker; great-grandchildren, Davis, Ava, Keaton, Carson, Maicy, Makenna, Kylin and Tucker. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Erna Stoltenberg; siblings, Emil, Sina, Elmer, Donald; and two grandchildren, Kami Korver and Justin Stoltenberg.
