Lois Sorenson

March 30, 1939 — May 8, 2018

LOIS IDA (GOLTZ) SORENSON was born on March 30, 1939 to Albert “Bert” and Caroline (Meyer) Goltz in Tracy, Minnesota. She attended school in Tracy, graduating in 1957. During that time she enjoyed working at the Red Rooster and Zeke’s Cafes. Lois received her cosmetology license from Mankato Beauty School in 1958. Upon graduation, she moved to Pipestone and began her career at the Hiawatha Beauty Salon. Lois met William “Bill” Sorenson on a blind date in March of 1959. They were married at Tracy Methodist Church on September 5, 1959. On Lois’ 21st birthday they purchased Ralph’s Beauty Shop, renaming it the Style-Rite Beauty Salon. In 1961, they moved the salon to their home (the house with the purple door) where it remained in business until 2016. Lois entered the Light House unit at the Good Samaritan Home in February of 2017. She enjoyed her daily visits and walks with Bill. Lois entered the Pipestone County Hospice House on May 1, 2018, passing away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the age of 79 years, one month, and 8 days.

Lois was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Pipestone. She and Bill were members of the Hiawatha Club in Pipestone for 48 years. Lois enjoyed working the ice cream window during the ‘Song of Hiawatha Pageant’. Lois was an accomplished seamstress, an avid reader, and enjoyed knitting afghans for family and friends.
