Lori Ann Biever was born on April 11, 1960 to Kenneth "Kenny" and Dorothy "Angie" (Ausland) Amundson in Webster, South Dakota. She was baptized on May 22, 1960 at the American Lutheran Church in Webster and was later confirmed at the same church. Lori attended Webster High School, graduating in 1978. She continued her education by attending Huron College, graduating in 1982 with a Bachelor's Degree. During her time at Huron College she worked summers at the Pickerel Lake State Park; she really enjoyed her time working there and remembered those days with a smile on her face. She taught in New Effington and Howard, South Dakota. She then moved and taught at the Willmar (Minnesota) Community Christian School for two years. At that time she moved to Waconia, Minnesota and taught there for a year. She then attended Moorhead State University, graduating in August, 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree. She then moved to Marshall, Minnesota and began to teach at Russell Tyler Ruthton School. While living in Marshall, she met Jeff Biever and on August 7, 1999, Lori married the love of her life at the American Lutheran Church in Webster, South Dakota. She went on to teach at RTR for 14 years. The couple lived in Marshall for seven years following their marriage and then moved to their current home near Holland, Minnesota in 2006. In 2008, she began working for the Pipestone Area Schools, teaching for 12 years. She retired from teaching in June of 2020 after a teaching career that spanned over 34 years. In January of 2024, Lori began a short battle with cancer. She was admitted to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She entered the care of the Pipestone County Hospice House on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, and on Sunday, February 4, 2024 she passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at the age of 63.
In her younger years, Lori enjoyed showing many steers through 4-H at the Day County Fair in Webster and also the South Dakota State Fair in Huron. She also enjoyed being in concert band in high school.
As a special education teacher, she held many different certificates to be best equipped with the knowledge to help her students learn in many different ways. When Lori wasn't teaching, she could be found spending time at her family's cabin on Pickerel Lake in South Dakota. She was also always rooting for the Vikings football team in her spare time.
Lori is lovingly remembered by her husband, Jeff Biever of Holland, Minnesota; her son, Jacob Biever of Holland, Minnesota; her mother, Angie Amundson of Willmar, Minnesota; siblings, Sandy (Kevin) Hanson of Willmar, Minnesota, Kristi (Scott) Glup of Willmar, Minnesota, and Lonnie (Nikki) Amundson of Webster, South Dakota; sisters-in-law, Linda Fritz of Pipestone, and Ihla (Paul) Carlson of Pipestone; and several nieces and nephews.
