Lorraine M. Brandt

March 16, 1935 — September 7, 2021

LORRAINE MILDRED (CYRIACKS) BRANDT was born March 16, 1935 to Alfred and Katherine (Shriver) Cyriacks on the Cyriacks farm near Lake Benton, Minnesota. She was baptized and later confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake Benton. Lorraine attended and graduated from Lake Benton High School. On June 25, 1953, Lorraine married Leo Brandt at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Verdi Township, Minnesota. The couple was blessed with five children and sixty-five years of life together. They farmed and operated a dairy farm in the Tyler area for many years. After retirement, she and Leo enjoyed traveling the U.S. and Denmark visiting Leo’s relatives. Lorraine and Leo lived in Tyler many years until August 2017, they were residents of Colonial Manor in Balaton, Minnesota. In May of 2019, Lorraine entered Hendricks Nursing Home in Hendricks, Minnesota where on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, Lorraine passed away at the age of 86 years, five months, and 22 days. Funeral services in honor of Lorraine will be private.

Lorraine was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lake Benton for several years and later joined Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tyler. She worked at the Tyler Public School as a lunch and playground supervisor. Lorraine later worked as the cook at the Tyler REM home. She enjoyed going to dances with Leo all their married life. Along with delivering Meals on Wheels, Lorraine loved to quilt. Lorraine belonged to Hope Afternoon Club, Evening Card Club, and Birthday Club.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Jane (Les) Johnson of Tyler, Thomas (Marlene) Brandt of Tyler, Wayne (Kathy) Brandt of Tyler, and Reid Brandt of Indiana; 11 grandchildren, Kay (Joe) Metzen Brandt, CarriAnn (Todd) Caron, Dean (Danielle) Brandt, Lesley (Eric) Kaesermann, Hilary (Wade) Thooft, Julian Loescher and Allison Burdette, Lauren (William) Dunn, Brianna, Mariah, and Brandon Brandt; 16 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo Brandt; daughter, Jean Loescher; three brothers, Walter Cyriacks, Marvin Cyriacks, and infant brother; and five sisters, Bernice Trautman, Madalyn Huska, Marie Bushman, Doreen Kinner, and Evelyn Trautman.
