Margie "Marge" Johnson

Margie Verona Faulds Johnson, known as Marge to family and friends, was born on August 1, 1930, on the family farm near the small town of Arco, Minnesota, to proud parents Vern and Mildred Faulds. She was baptized on October 26, 1930, and later confirmed in her faith on May 28, 1944, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Arco.

Marge grew up in rural southwestern Minnesota and graduated from high school in Ivanhoe, Minnesota, on May 27, 1948. Soon after, she began her career at the First National Bank in Ivanhoe, serving as secretary to the bank president. In January 1950, she moved to the First National Bank in Pipestone, Minnesota, where she dedicated more than three decades of her professional life—32 years of reliable service and community involvement. Later, she continued her public service for another 10 years as Deputy County Recorder at the Pipestone County Courthouse.  On May 11, 1953, Marge married the love of her life, Loran Johnson, and together they built a home and a life in Pipestone, where they raised their family and shared many happy years.

Marge found deep joy in the simple, meaningful things: spending time with her children and grandchildren, creating beautiful handmade items through crocheting, knitting, and sewing, and losing herself in a good book. Her hands were always busy with love and care, and her heart was always open to those she cherished.

Marge passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026, in Grimes, Iowa, at the age of 95. She will be interred beside her husband Loran at New Woodlawn Cemetery Pipestone with a graveside service on Saturday February 7th, at 1:30 PM.

She is lovingly remembered by her three children: Jeff Johnson of Windom, Minnesota; Peggy (Al Aanonson) of Grimes, Iowa; and Tim (Cindy) Johnson of Pipestone, Minnesota. She also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Aubree (Hunter Flesch) of Ankeny, Iowa; Ashlyn Aanonson (Zac Laws) of Polk City, Iowa; Jordan (Olivia) Johnson of Humboldt, South Dakota; Jesse Johnson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Aaron Johnson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Marge’s life was a quiet testament to hard work, family devotion, and the enduring strength of faith and community. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
