Marlys Faye Moser

Marlys Faye Moser was born March 18, 1964 to Albert and Lorraine (Brands) Van Dyke in Flandreau, South Dakota.  She grew up on a dairy farm and attended Verdi Public School.  As a teen, she enjoyed milking cows and helping in the barn with chores.  She grew up attending First Baptist Church of Elkton, South Dakota, where she accepted the Lord as her personal Savior and was later baptized.  In May of 1982, Marlys graduated from Verdi Public School as class valedictorian.  She attended a year of college at Pillsbury Baptist Bible College.  On November 17, 1984, Marlys married the love of her life Brian Moser at the First Baptist Church in Pipestone, Minnesota.  The couple first lived in Pipestone then rural Lake Benton, Minnesota and finally settled in Tyler, Minnesota.  Marlys worked for various companies throughout the area including Lange’s Café in Pipestone, Bayliner Marine in Pipestone, MN Corn Processors in Marshall, Minnesota, SW Community Action in Marshall, and most recently as a registered sales assistant for Jorgensen Financial in Tyler.  On March 1, 2023, while surrounded by her loving family at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Marlys went to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 58 years, 11 months, and 14 days.

Marlys was a member of the Cornerstone Church in Pipestone.  She also served on the Kiwanis club of Tyler and as the Treasurer for Faith Community Church.  She enjoyed camping and spending time at the lake with her family, especially boating and water skiing.  Her family and friends will always remember her very positive attitude and her caring, nurturing manner.  She was always sure to reach out a helping hand to any who might need it.  Her courageous fight during the last few years of her life with cancer will always be an inspiration to those closest to her.  Above all, Marlys’ favorite thing to do was spend time with her grandchildren and her family.

Left to cherish Marlys’ memory are her husband, Brian Moser of Tyler; children Robin (Alan) Arends of Raymond, Minnesota, Kyle Moser of Lake Benton, Minnesota, and Eric (Jennifer) Moser of Ashland, Nebraska; grandchildren Nicholas, Samuel, Olivia, Seasons, Phoenix, and Crew; as well as three brothers and 4 sisters.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Lorraine Van Dyke as well as her in-laws Leon and Ida Moser.
