Memorials may be directed to Pipestone County Hospice, Pipestone Performing Arts Center or the Al Opland Singers.

Mary Ann Burke Yseth was born on May 3, 1932 to Leo and Emily (Hedrich) Burke in Worthington, Minnesota. She graduated from Pipestone High school in 1949 in Pipestone, Minnesota, and then attended the College of St. Teresa in Winona, Minnesota. While at St. Teresa, she studied vocal music while pursuing her Bachelors of Science degree in nursing. After college, she worked as a nurse in Inglewood, California and then Minneapolis, Minnesota, before returning to Pipestone, to marry the love of her life, William F. Yseth. On June 25, 1955, they were married at St. Leo Catholic Church and recently celebrated 70 years of marriage.

As newlyweds, Bill and Mary Ann moved to Rapid City, SD and then shortly thereafter, to Lake Benton, Minnesota, where Bill practiced dentistry. The young family returned to Pipestone in 1961 when Bill joined his father, Dr. Fred Yseth, in the establishment of the Pipestone Dental Center.

Besides raising their eight children and countless litters of golden retriever puppies, Mary Ann assisted part time in the dental practice. She eventually returned to her nursing career and was a Home Care/Hospice nurse for 15 years. She was instrumental and passionate about the Pipestone Hospice Program.

Mary Ann had the pleasure of many friends from all walks of life. She had friends she nursed with, sang and performed with, played cards with, swam with, and served her community with. She was known to add a bit of pizazz to everything she did.

Mary Ann (Burke) Yseth passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026 at Alomere Health Hospital in Alexandria, Minnesota at the age of 93 years, nine months and six days.

She is survived by her eight children, Mark (Leslee) Yseth of Ham Lake, Minnesota, Jane (Brian) Wischer of The Villages, Florida, Matthew (Cathy) Yseth of Alexandria, Steve (Mary Lea) Yseth of Watertown, South Dakota, Anne (Gene Beck) Twomey of Austin, Texas, Tim (Nicole) Yseth of Brookings, South Dakota, Mary (Edwin) Lapthorn of Pipestone, and Nancy Yseth Olsen of Hendricks, Minnesota; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends.
