Randy Sixta

Randy Dale Sixta was born on August 29, 1960 to Dale and Sharon (Waage) Sixta in Worthington, Minnesota. While growing up Randy loved spending time on the farm with his grandpa. He was an active 4-H member, fostering a deep love for animals at a young age. Randy showed Jersey cattle at the local fair and many state fairs during his childhood. During his early years, Randy was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Horton Township in Ocheyedan, Iowa, where he was baptized and later confirmed. He attended the Ocheyedan Public School where he played the trumpet and ran high hurdles. He graduated high school in 1978. Shortly after graduating, Randy was united in marriage to Lisa Schiphoff on April 10, 1982 in Sibley, Iowa. In 1984, the couple moved to Tyler, MN. They eventually relocated to Lake Benton in 1987, where they raised their three daughters Jennifer, Kimberly and Ashley. Randy passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at the age of 65 years, eight months and 18 days.

He took deep pride in growing their family farm from the ground up. The family could be found spending their summers together building their own grain bins, waxing farm equipment, and keeping the farm in pristine condition. He thoroughly enjoyed working with Lisa "Leis" and the girls on the farm and beamed with pride when his girls drove the tractor or delivered a meal.

He could never say no to running into town for ice cream or a quick treat (especially a fresh Twin Bing). It was extremely important to him that his girls learn the value of hard work and the ability to (or attempt to) drive a manual transmission. Randy was always ready and wanting to try something new. He thoroughly enjoyed building his own planters and corn head and was recognized in several magazines for his craftsmanship and knowledge.

He loved 70’s rock (especially Nazareth), restoring his 72’ Nova, collecting family heirlooms, Oliver tractors, old lanterns and old comic books. Above all, Randy loved watching his grandchildren grow up on the farm giving them bottled Coca-Cola and plenty of snacks. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Brookings, South Dakota, where he enjoyed growing his relationship with his Lord as much as he enjoyed growing his crops.

Randy is survived by his wife, Lisa Sixta of Lake Benton; daughters, Jennifer (Sean) Castle of Tyler, Minnesota, Kimberly (Chris) Wooge of Florence, MN and Ashley (Dustin) King of Lake Benton; 9 grandchildren, Rayleigh, Addison, Madelyn and Kasen Castle, Kayden and Kollyns Wooge, Maverick, Kennedy and Quinn King; siblings, Lori (Marty) Richardson of Sibley, Iowa and Jolene (Ben) Ehlers of Lake Park, Iowa; mother-in-law, Kathyjean Truckenmiller; Ethel Anderson, who was a second mother to him; and several other family and friends. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Dale Sixta and Sharon Meyer (passed away on May 19, 2026); his grandparents, Floyd and Hazel Sixta, Lars and Irene Waage; nephews, Jeffrey Siemers and Jesse Richardson; and Kenny Anderson, who was a second father to him.
