Russell Guerue

Russell Renford Guerue was born on October 17, 1970 to James and Lucelle (Little Thunder) Guerue in Hamilton, Canada. He graduated from Flandreau High School in Flandreau, South Dakota in 1980. Following graduation, he furthered his education at Southeast Technical College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and studied mechanics. On December 18, 2003 he was united in marriage to Linda Kay DeBoer in Sioux City, Iowa. On Friday, May 5, 2026, Russell passed away at his home in Luverne, Minnesota at 55 years, 6 months and 22 days.

Russell loved to cook and make food for his family and friends. His true love was his grandchildren; they always brought a smile to his face. Russ also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also participated as a grass dancer and was a member of the Native American Chair.

Russell is survived by his wife, Linda of Luverne; daughter, Mariah Guerue of Brookings, South Dakota; and siblings, Carole (Byron) Provencial of Rosebud, South Dakota, Ramona (Darrell) Charbonneau of Minot, North Dakota, Douglas (Gwen Horsley) Guerue of Brookings, Joseph Guerue of Brookings, Paul Guerue of Brookings, Mark (Monica) Guerue of Brookings, and Gloria Guerue of Mitchell, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lucelle; and brothers, Robert Guerue and James Guerue, Jr.
