SUSAN JANE EHRLICH was born on August 1, 1938 to Hilgar and Rachael (Ozier) Parkes in Boise, Idaho. She was raised and attended school in Boise. Throughout her life, she lived in California, Montana, Kansas, Texas, Colorado, Illinois, Arizona and Washington. She continued her education in Fort Worth, Texas, graduating with an Associate’s Degree as an LPN. For the past 16 years, she has resided in Pipestone, Minnesota. At the age of 65, she attended Minnesota West where she received a truck driving certificate. She drove for Midwest Coast Transport for two years. On Monday, June 22, 2020, she was taken to the Pipestone County Medical Center where she passed that day at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 21 days.

She attended Faith Community Church in Pipestone. She enjoyed fishing, nursing, reading and sewing. She was as stubborn as a mule. When asked how we’re getting somewhere she’d say “On shanks as ponies”; God helps those who help themselves. Her best friend in the world was her shitzu, “Shucky”.

She is lovingly remembered by her five sons, Rod (Paula) Sharp of Peyton, Colorado, Robert (Sheri) Porter of Pipestone, Minnesota, Lonnie Vaughn of Catherdal, California, Timothy Vaughn of Windsor, Colorado and Thomas Vaughn of Phoenix, Arizona; 12 grandchildren, Katelyn, Thomas, Charles, Natasha, Joshua, Mark, Russell, Mandi, Amy, Sadie, Shelby and Christian; eight great-grandchildren, Joshua, Alexis, Phillip, Malikai, Malcom, Malory, Kalab and Jensen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hilgar and Jeannette Parkes; her brother, Hilgar Parkes, Jr.; and her sister, Marylou Canaday.
