Teresa Lovre

Teresa Lee Lovre was born on July 6, 1955, to Marlo “Mike” and Carolyn (Hanson) Holck in Slayton, MN. She spent her childhood in Ruthton, MN and music was an important part of her life from an early age. Her mom and dad had a piano and organ in the home where she learned to play and sing. She was baptized on August 14, 1955, at Bethal Lutheran Church in Ruthton and confirmed in June 1968 at Peace Lutheran Church in Ruthton. She graduated from Ruthton High School in 1973. On August 31, 1973, she married Mike Lovre in Flandreau, SD. Together, they made their home in Tyler, MN, where they built a life centered around family, faith, music, and community. Throughout her working life, she held a variety of positions. She worked for the Buffalo Ridge Gazette in Ruthton, Edgewood Bluff Lake Benton, as a secretary for Tyler Wholesale, Utoft Johansen and Horvath Funeral Home, and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department in Ivanhoe, MN. Beginning January 1, 2000, she started her last job as a full-time dispatcher for the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office in Marshall, MN. On Friday, August 28, 2026, Teresa passed away at her home surrounded by her family at 71 years, 1 month and 21 days.

Teresa was active in church at Peace Lutheran in Ruthton from 1955 to 1973 and then became a member of First English Lutheran Church in Tyler in 1973. Music remained one of the greatest joys of her life. She shared her musical talents for Sunday school, special music, weddings, funerals, baptisms, and confirmations. She enjoyed being the pianist at the Lake Benton Opera House and going to concerts like ZZ Top and Andre Rieu. Outside of work and church, she took joy in playing many different instruments. Terri especially loved riding her Harley Davidson to work and at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. She also enjoyed watching movies with her grandchildren and traveling to California to visit family.

Teresa will be remembered by her family as a beautiful woman with a loving heart, strong faith, and an incredible work ethic. She was described as religious, family-oriented and someone who lived her life values with high integrity. Her sense of humor and playful personality brought joy to those around her. One of the special ways she showed her affection was by giving a three-finger wave, much like her brother Dick. Her faith, music, family, and community were woven into every part of her life. Through the many roles she filled—as wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, musician, coworker, church member, and friend—she left a lasting impression on the people fortunate enough to know her.

Teresa is lovingly remembered by her husband, Mike; children, Valorie (Rob) Chufo of Placentia, CA, Danny (Jasey) Lovre of Watertown, SD, and Steve (Angie) Lovre of Tyler; nine grandchildren, Chelsey Chufo, Ethan Cross, Ashley Lovre, Anthony Lovre, Lane Lovre, Shane Chufo, Jonah Lovre, Jenna Lovre, and Marlo Lovre; and two great- grandchildren, Sienna Hernandez and Peyton Kae Howey. Terri was preceded in death by her parents, Marlo “Mike” and Carolyn Holck; brother, Dick “Vicegrip” Holck; aunt, Mary Ann Johnson, and uncle and aunt, Rondo and Marie Holck.
